Real Traceability, Freshness & Social Responsibility

Quintino’s has established micro-coffee processing centers in each of the remote highland plantation “origin” areas of the Archipelago. This enables us to work directly with the farmers who grow your coffee beans.

At our micro-centers, we carefully process green beans and ship them directly to our roastery in Java for fresh roasting and packaging with Qfresh protection.

The feedback, expertise, and continuous improvements in coffee quality allow farmers to cultivate beans with the taste coffee lovers around the world prefer.

At Quintino’s, we believe that Farmer Direct is a world first in coffee roasting. We also believe that enhancing quality and freshness brings long-term benefits for everyone.

“From the tree your coffee was grown to your cup.”

A World First by Quintino’s Micro Coffee Processing

Freshness

With single-origin coffee, the freshness of the green beans at the time of roasting is crucial. While green (unroasted) coffee beans can be stored for years, their subtle aromatic flavors and notes fade over time. These delicate tones and notes are essential to a full single-origin coffee experience.

The Quintino’s Guarantee

We guarantee that the single-origin coffees we offer are of the finest quality and directly traceable to the regions or estates listed on each package.

After many years specializing in sourcing and roasting beans from across the Archipelago, we’ve mastered roasting each single origin to bring out its unique character and flavor at its best.

For Coffee Blends:

Not so much.

Our blends, like Sumatran Mellow (light roast), are crafted to deliver a coffee with a consistent taste and character.

As seasons and harvests change, we individually roast and blend a selection of beans, making small adjustments to maintain this consistency. In fact, aged beans with softer profiles can add depth to a blend.

Like catching up with an old friend, blends are about enjoying the same familiar coffee experience every time.

What Makes Indonesian Coffee Special?

One of the unique features of the Indonesian Archipelago is its vast length and diversity. Stretching wider than the United States, the Archipelago offers varied harvest seasons from east to west. From the top of Sumatra to Java, from Sulawesi to Papua, harvest seasons can vary by up to six months, as do the flavors and characteristics from different regions and plantations. This variety makes Indonesia ideal for year-round sourcing of specialty coffees.

The Coffee Trade

Most specialty coffee is traded as green beans, starting from small farmers and moving to local processors. It is then exported in large quantities through major trading hubs in Europe and the U.S., where it may be re-exported to smaller traders in other countries before reaching local roasters. This process can result in green coffee beans being over a year old by the time they are roasted. At Quintino’s, we source directly from Indonesian farmer cooperatives or processors, ensuring freshness and traceability.

Is Coffee Season Important When Choosing Your Coffee?

For single-origin specialty coffee, understanding the coffee season is essential.

Single-origin coffee refers to coffee from a specific geographic location or plantation. The joy of single-origin coffees comes from experiencing the unique flavors and characteristics of each coffee at the peak of its harvest season.

Single origins add variety and excitement to your coffee experience.
